Can I Ever Love Her?

Dear Doctor Lover,

I'm involved with a beautiful intelligent girl who adores me. Problem is, I don't feel like I'm in love. I've been in love before and the intensity of it just blew me away. I want to be in love now but nothings sparking. My question: Can you will yourself to love another without that initial spark?Sincerely,

Right place, wrong girl?

Dear Right place, wrong girl?,

To answer your question, I will have to say yes, you can fall in love with someone even after not have an initial spark. Some scenarios would be dating a friend that you have had for years or how some parents don't love their child at first, but grow to love them stronger and harder throughout the years.

You also have to keep in mind that not all relationships are flawless and may not have that strong spark. Don't get caught-up wasting time throughout the years looking for perfection in all aspects of your relationship or you may find yourself never settling because you want one girl to have everything.

Nonetheless, keep looking into the relationship and see how your feelings grow or decrease and follow them. Only you know how you truly feel about her. If you can't see yourself being happy in the future with her, then you may need to just let it go. But if it has potential, then try to work with it and see what happens.
